🐞 THE BUG THAT REFUSED TO DISAPPEAR

    Monday morning started normally for Anna, a QA tester at a small software company.
She worked remotely, so her workday started with her laptop, a cup of coffee and the daily stand-up.

    During the meeting, Anna told her team:
“Today I'm going to test the new version of the application. I also need to check the login feature.”
Her colleague Mark, a developer, said:
“Good. I fixed the login bug yesterday.”
Anna smiled.
“Great. I'll test it.”

    After the meeting, Anna downloaded the latest build and opened the application in her browser.
She entered her username and password. She clicked Login. Then an error appeared on the screen:
Something went wrong. Please try again.

    Anna created a new ticket.
She added a description, the environment, the browser version, and the steps to reproduce the bug. She also attached a screenshot.

Then she wrote:
Expected result: The user logs into the application.
Actual result: An error message appears.
Severity: High.
Priority: High.

    A few minutes later, Mark wrote a comment:
“I can't reproduce it. It works for me.”

    Anna checked everything again. She tried another browser. The bug was still there. She tried another account. The bug disappeared. Anna looked at the test account. Then she looked at the password. Then she laughed. The password was: “Password123!”
    

    Mark came over to her desk.
“What?”
“I found the problem.”
“What is it?”
Anna pointed at the screen.
“The application works perfectly.”
Mark looked confused.
“Then why couldn't you log in?”
Anna smiled.
“Because I was testing the wrong environment.”
Mark stared at her.
Anna stared at Mark.

    Then they both started laughing.
At the daily stand-up the next morning, Anna said:
“Yesterday I found a serious issue with the login.”
Mark looked worried.
“And?”
Anna smiled.
“The biggest bug was me.”
